I have just finished the first day of my coding bootcamp in Melbourne with Le Wagon. I thought I would share my story of the learning process and the reasons that led me on this particular path. I aim to share a post at the end of each week, for the duration of the 11-week program. Hopefully, it may also provide some value to anyone thinking of doing something similar.

I am 31-year-old Brit living in Australia and I have been here for over 3 and a half years now. Before this, I had spent much of my life travelling and working around the world after university, with a short stint in the UK where I found my first long-term role working as a Copywriter and Recruitment Coordinator for TUI — one of the world’s leading tourism groups, a role that combined my love for travel and writing. Writing has always been one of my passions but one that waxes and wanes through the seasons which is the main reason I haven’t pursued it as a career thus far.

In the UK, I found it hard to settle and despite both my partner and I holding down fairly decent jobs, we really struggled to save much money with the very high cost of living. It felt like we were living to work instead of working to live as the old maxim goes. Alas, after a year and a half in the UK, we were once again keen to up sticks for greener pastures.
