I have just finished week 1 of my 11-week Web Development Bootcamp with Le Wagon, and what a week it has been!

We have had a deep dive into the programming language of Ruby, along with a run through of Git and the terminal, to test our methods and push our work on to Github. We have been fast-tracked through the basic logic-oriented concepts. Every day, we are grappling with our brains to remember methods, syntax and write code with Ruby.

The days are from 9am to 6pm. We have lectures for the first 1–2 hours and then pair programming for the remainder of the day where we collaborate with a partner to work through difficult coding challenges. At the end of the day, from 5pm to 6pm, we have live coding, where we work as a group to solve tough coding challenges, with the help of an instructor. We have mandatory homework in the form of online flashcards which are supposed to help reinforce what we’ve learnt during the day.

I forgot to mention previously that prior to the course, we also had to complete some prep work. This included the free Ruby course on Codecademy and a secondary course on their own platform which consisted of a number of modules around HTML, CSS, Ruby and Javascript.
