Thick green blades of grass
Mighty raindrops falling fast
Wayward clouds charge the sky
Hardy ramblers amble by
A chill in the air will make you shiver
Flowers bloom and quickly wither
Gulls far from sea fly overhead
The bright moon shines when the day is dead
An island nation, a land for the free
Blackberries, the stable oak and the apple tree
The heavens above change often
But the rain god’s strength will rarely soften
Purple trees and hills of green
A sly fox that avoids being seen
Squirrels scavenge amongst the leaves
Hoarding nuts before the freeze
Herds of deer on the forest floor
A gnarled pigeon by a cat’s sharp claw
Fields of potato, beet and grain
Hearty staples for those that remain
A loud clap of thunder
Before the ground beneath is torn asunder
The land is cast in grey twilight
Day can quickly turn to night
Autumn, winter and spring blend into one
But cherished above all is the summer sun
