I think Science allows us to keep exploring and discovering which can bring a lot of rewards to our developing species. To make god the fundamental answer to creation, stifles that urge to understand. That said, science's biggest questions are very much on the metaphysical edge, and there is always the possibility that they are merely finding a different way of describing the same thing.
