Why Do Stars Shine So Bright?

It is said that we are all stardust

The fragments of great fiery balls of light

Burning away, against the emptiness of the night

I was merely drifting by

When another star caught my unsuspecting eye

It illuminated the nebula in a dazzling white

And blocked out all others in sight

It helped shed light on the darker side of my solar system

The encircling planets, I’d forgotten how much I’d missed them

Distracted, I fell through a wormhole in time and space

Leaving a deep void with nothing to fill its place

Oh why did you so brightly shine?

How did you warm this cold heart of mine?

I drift in my loneliness, close to the brink

Where the fiery light shone, I begin to wane and shrink

The passing star has found its place in the black

While I seem to have lost my track

I tell myself that I must seek a new home

Or trace back my steps to where I glowed alone
