You make some good points here but I do think that you are unintentionally creating a narrative about what this experience actually is.
I have done this with a close friend a handful of times and our experiences were entirely different based on our own pre-conceived ideas. We both went in very open minded. For me, it was pretty incredible visually but in a way where I felt very much 'here' which gave it a comforting quality despite the indescribable kaleidescope of images I was seeing behind closed eyes.
By the last dose I was convinced that, as incredible and all encompassing as the imagery was, it was purely a creation of my rapidly overfiring brain. Alternatively, my friend was convinced that he was accessing a variety of different worlds beyond our comprehension.
This I feel, derives from the feeling of while on psychadelics that the 'real' suddenly feels very 'unreal' or that 'reality seems too perfectly orchestrated to be true'. This, I believe comes from the temporary shutting down of the default mode network which frees our mind to alternative interpretations of reality.
Anyway, I always enjoy reading your articles about such topics. Just my 2 cents.
